The Ethnography Section collects and exhibits the ethnographic material found in the communes of this county, such as: old Olten rugs, old artistically crafted peasant costumes, collections of dishes (ceramics), painted eggs, tools and artistically carved wooden household objects.
The natural sciences section was designed in such a way as to offer visitors a place of recreation and at the same time a place of knowledge and learning of the secrets of nature, the diversity of flora and fauna.
The basic exhibitions are: Oltenia-Terra fossilis arranged on the ground floor, PHYSICAL-GEOGRAPHICAL CONDITIONS AND ECOSYSTEMS OF OLTENIA on the 1st floor and Our Universe and Solar System which occupies an area of 250 square meters and is arranged on the second floor. The Space exhibition consists of two rooms. In the first room, scientific information about the origin and organization of the Universe is displayed: galaxies and groups of galaxies (including the Milky Way-our galaxy), stars, constellations, the Solar System (the Sun and the planets that revolve around it: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto). In the second hall, the journey into the universe leads us to the Planetarium, where through the 10 shows, the visiting public can admire the dynamic image of the celestial vault, the map of the sky, a virtual journey among stars, constellations, planets, asteroids.
The Museum of Oltenia from Craiova started its activity in 1915.
It carries out its activity in four buildings, the History-Archaeology Section, on Madona Dudu street no. 14, the Department of Natural Sciences, in the Ramuri Palace, on Popa Şapcă street no. 8, the Department of Ethnography, at Casa Băniei, and the Restoration and Conservation Laboratory, on Madona Dudu street no. 14, in the building known as the Extension of the History-Archaeology Section.
The History-Archaeology section includes epigraphic monuments from the Daco-Roman era, prehistoric Daco-Roman, barbarian and Romanian antiquities found in the lands of Oltenia, Romanian religious antiquities, collections of old documents, photographs of old monuments, collections of Romanian medals, Dacian coins , Greek, Roman and Romanian.
